[School Spotlight] Chasing the Gingerbread Man into the Classroom! A Christmas Phonics Party Filled with Laughter

An Enrich English NET teacher conducting a lively Christmas Phonics workshop using "The Gingerbread Man" story and interactive props for kindergarten students and parents in Hong Kong.

Laughter is the Best Motivation for Learning!

Who says Phonics has to be about sitting still?

The best part of Christmas is always the stories! But in an Enrich English classroom, we don’t just tell stories—we bring them to life.

Recently, we visited a local campus to bring the classic tale of "The Gingerbread Man" to K1-K3 students. When our NET teacher burst into the room with Christmas bells, out of breath and shouting, “He is running so fast! Zoom!”, the children’s enthusiasm was instantly ignited. The room was immediately filled with ripples of laughter and excitement.

Precise Pronunciation Amidst the Fun: Letting Children "Feel" the Sound

At Enrich English, we firmly believe that "learning's motivation comes from interest." In this 30-minute workshop, we carefully tucked professional Phonics techniques inside layers of play:

  • The "Gurgling" /g/ Sound: To master the /g/ in "Gingerbread," our teacher led everyone in mimicking a "gargling" sound. The children held their throats to feel the vibration while making funny noises. Looking at each other’s silly faces, they couldn't stop giggling!

  • The Hunt for "Magic Buttons": We scattered paper buttons with different images across the floor. The children became "Phonics Detectives," tasked with finding only the buttons that started with the /g/ sound (like Gift or Green) to help dress the Gingerbread Man. Seeing the kids darting around excitedly while parents cheered them on is exactly the kind of learning environment we strive to create.

A Decade of Partnership: We Speak the Language of Schools

Principals and teachers often tell us that their biggest concern is a "disconnect" between foreign teachers and students. Having partnered with esteemed organizations like Po Leung Kuk and The Salvation Army for over ten years, Enrich English understands school needs deeply.

Our NET teachers are not only fully qualified (verified with SCRC checks) but also possess the unique charisma to "activate" a classroom. We don't just provide "substitute teaching"; we design tailor-made programs that stimulate a student's full potential, including:

  • Themed Holiday Workshops

  • Trinity GESE Exam Preparation

  • Primary One Admission Interview Training

Ready to bring a blend of joy and mastery to your students?

Let the professional and energetic NET team at Enrich English be your school’s most trusted partner in creating a more engaging English learning environment!
