The Writing: How to Brush Your Teeth

By Chloe Kung

Brushing your teeth is important. I brush my teeth twice a day, in the morning and at night. I will teach you how to brush your teeth.

First, put toothpaste on the toothbrush. Next, brush your teeth back and forth for two minutes. Then, brush your tongue. Last, rinse your mouth with water a few times. You will feel clean. You can try brushing your teeth too!

Teacher’s Analysis

Chloe has shown a fantastic ability to organize a process logically while maintaining a helpful, instructional tone.

  • Sequential Connectives: Chloe uses "First," "Next," "Then," and "Last" perfectly to create a clear chronological flow for the reader.

  • Imperative Verbs: The use of command verbs like "put," "brush," and "rinse" is essential for procedural writing and shows great confidence.

  • Advanced Vocabulary:

    1. Twice: A more sophisticated way of saying "two times," showing advanced frequency awareness.

    2. Back and forth: A descriptive phrase that precisely illustrates the required movement.

    3. Rinse: A specific technical verb used correctly in the context of hygiene.
